No Price Increase for 2010.

We are currently booking 2010 at 2008 prices. $2500 per week per person. The price includes a full week with meals and accomodations aboard the Mothership as well as kayaks and gear. All that you need are airfare, fishing licenses (optional), and booze (also optional, you are welcome to BYOB from home or a local Alaska liquor store).

Want to Get on the Kayak Mothership in 2010?

Here's the scoop: Our trips are 7 days and 6 nights aboard the mothership, Abyssinia, and generally start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday. We take up to six kayakers at a time. We cater to non-beginner kayakers who can jump in one of our kayaks and be ready to paddle on day one. We will help select gear, set routes, judge currents and weather, and guide you to some of our favorite locations. No two trips are alike. There are so many options in South East Alaska that we rarely follow the same route. We like to explore too!

What's included: Your own cabin, kayaks (singles), skirts, paddles, pfd's, food and non-alcoholic beverages. Breakfast is assembled by you whenever you get up (cereals, toast, muffins, tea and coffee of course - we are from Seattle!) and we usually pack lunches to go for a day of paddling and/or hiking. Dinner is a big deal, usually catch-of-the day and always delicious. Is that bragging? What's not included: Transportation to and from the mothership (air and cab fare), alcoholic beverages (it's OK to bring your own and there is always a liquor store near the point of departure), fishing licenses and gratuities. Sitka. Late May and Early June to Sitka

There is so much to see in and around Sitka it is impossible to describe it all.  Fantastic paddling in open and protected waters.  Excellent Fishing.   Amazing history.  You cannot go wrong with a paddle trip to Sitka, Alaska!!!

Juneau to Petersburg. Late July

This is a popular trip, and for good reason.  It includes some excellent paddling and exploring on the east side of Admiralty Island, as well as a chance to paddle in the ice at the bottom of Tracy Arm. 

For customers who want to see the west side of Admiralty Island, we skip the ice and spend more time watching bears.  There is a hot springs along this route and, of course, the kayaking is great.

 

Icy Strait/Inian Islands. 2 Trips in July

We spend several weeks in the Icy Strait/Inian Islands area every summer, and we aways look forward to returning.  The fishing and wildlife viewing, particularly Humpback Whales at Point Adolphus, is some of the best. 

Round trip out of Juneau makes it logistically simple.  The Inian Islands offer the opportunity for casual paddlers to enjoy easy exploration; it also offers currents of up up to 10 knots in South Inian Pass for those experts who dare!  This is a good one!

 

Kake. May

Kake is quickly becoming a favorite area for us. Over the last two years we have done a lot of paddling in the area and have come up with some fantastic destinations for a week long trip. Kake itself is a cute little town with terrific access including Alaska state ferries and regular flights.  From Kake, the paddling areas include Tebenkof Wilderness, one of the most remote places in South East, and the east side of Baranof Island which we find absolutley stunning. Even the South East Alaska veterens say "We gotta go back there again..."
