We're Provisioning

A Change of Pace

It's time to get moving!  That means that blog entries will appear here on cruising time, not Monday through Friday as as been the case in the winter months.  We are busy provisioning, testing and preparing, none of which makes for very interesting conversation.

Once we get underway, we will quickly reach Canadian waters.  Huge roaming charges apply to our satellite phone use in Canada so, while we are there, we will only blog when we have wifi.

We will announce it here when we arrive in Alaska, after which blogging of the adventures of the sea kayakers and their mothership will begin in earnest.

Feel free to drop us a line any time.  We will pick up email via satellite wherever we happen to be.

Coming Soon: Bicycles!

We are assembling bicycles, helmets and safety vests for those of you who would like to explore an Alaska town by bicycle.  This year we will have four bikes and we'll see how it goes.  If it seems like something that people want, we'll get two more.

Rainbows

We saw sun and rain joining forces to form rainbows quite a few times last summer.  Here is a double rainbow in Misty Fjords.

Hours of Daylight in Southeast Alaska

At the height of summer, the sun rises at approximately 4 a.m. and sets at approximately 9:30 p.m.  Light makes an appearance before the sun is up, and hangs around after it slips below the horizon.  For more details about the duration of daylight anywhere in Alaska, check out Alaska.com.
