By unanimous vote we decided to take a hard left out of Petersburg and head up between Admiralty and Baranof Islands, rather than taking the Stephens Passage/Tracy Arm route. What a week we had. We saw hump back whales every day. One day they were leaping, spy hopping and slapping. One night we had one in the anchorage with us. Brown bears (grizzlies) visited almost every beach at low tide. There also were birds, a porcupine, a pod of orca whales, harbor seals, sea lions and porpoises playing in our bow wake. Some days were hiking days and some days were kayaking days. A few days featured a little of both.
