This mother bear has a trio.  What a treat it was to watch them.

 

 

ABC

This week we are heading down the west side of Admiralty Island, criscrossing back and forth between the so-called "ABC" Islands (Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof).  Our goal on this trip was to see bears, and we have not been disappointed.  As a bonus, we also have seen breaching humpbacks and a family of orcas.  More photos as we find internet.

Rain Check

Another fabulous week, but the internet connection is not good enough for photos.  We are leaving for another adventure tomorrow, and will get back to you when we get to Petersburg.  Hope you are having as good a summer as we are!

Time Flies

Whew!  We are turning right around to do another Icy Strait trip, and there has been no time for the blog.  The last trip was another great humpback whale week, and our kayaking adventures took us to orcas, arches, otters, sea lions and a long list of wonderful birds.  One end of Icy Strait was sunny and hot.  The other end was blanketed by lovely fog and mist.  We pretty much had it all!

If I find a connection on this trip, I'll blog as we go.  Otherwise, see you when we get back to Juneau next Wednesday.

Puffins

This far inland, puffin sightings are rare.  But we know where to find them when they come inside.

 

Birds

The first Icy Strait trip also featured birds.  Tomorrow I'll show you the puffins.  But first, check out the eagle family we found on our secret island.

 

Icy Strait - Inian Islands

Our first Icy Strait trip was a whale extravaganza.  Among other things, we saw multiple days and multiple groups of humpbacks bubble net feeding.

 

 

Elfin Cove

We are having a terrific week!  Pictures aren't ready for posting yet (we've been too busy with kayaking, whale watching, eating seafood, etc.), but we'll get on that when we return to Juneau.
