WL7CUO (Floyd) and KL0YC (Darlene) look after us every single day we are in SE Alaska by running the Great Northern Boaters Net, a ham radio network. We check in with them daily for weather, general updates, and local information. We also learn where our boater friends are (who also check in on the net) and when we may run into them. It all happens on 3.870 Hz at 6:30 am. We don't miss it. If we ever did miss (repeatedly) you can bet Darlene would move heaven and earth to find out where we are and if we have a problem. It is good to have friends looking after you when you are traveling in remote areas. They are the best!
