1. You may want to stay locally the night before as we try to leave promptly at 8 am on the first day. This gives us a chance to motor a few hours and get in a good paddle. It always takes a little longer that first day to get accustomed to the new gear.
2. We will typically paddle every day, rain or shine. The crew will be up early pulling Abyssinia's big anchor and moving to a new location. This leaves the rest of the morning and afternoon free to paddle and explore. Each day is different but you can expect to see lots of wildlife in Alaska including whales, bears, eagles, seals, sea lions and other critters. Each group is different and we can adjust the daily paddle to meet the group's abilities and interests. We are usually back on board in time for a hot shower before dinner. Favorite pastimes include reading, playing games, or watching a movie from Abyssinia's collection - and lots of great conversation and photo sharing, of course.
3. Our primary "mission" is that of a kayak mothership however we usually take the time to fish for some fresh seafood each week. Fishing and crabbing is optional for those who are interested. You must purchase a license. Fishing in Alaska is excellent! We are not a full service fishing charter.
4. The last day of our trip is reserved for motoring back to your port of departure. We do not want you to miss a flight or other connection! We will not paddle that day and we usually are back by noon or early afternoon.
