Reason No. 5:  Books.  In the event that you find yourself with any spare time, you can curl up with a good book about Southeast Alaska, sea kayaking or a work of fiction.

Reason No. 7:  Navigation.  Make the most of the ship's electronic navigation systems, including print outs of tide and current information and weather faxes.

Reason No. 8:  We carry the kayaks.  Travel light to get here, and stay light while you are here.  The ship does all the heavy lifting.

Reason No. 9:  Getting away from it all.  Once you leave the city or town in which your airplane lands, you will be mostly out of cell phone range.  Be sure to tell your boss that.  Of course, the Coast Guard can reach us by VHF radio anywhere, any time in the event of an emergency.  But don't tell your boss that.
